Peerly is built for verified HKU community use across the web, iOS, and Android apps. This policy explains what data Peerly handles and how it is used to operate the service.
Last updated: June 26, 2026Peerly stores account details you provide, including your HKU email, nickname, profile details, posts, replies, meetups, saves, reports, messages, uploaded images, notification preferences, and device push tokens when you enable app alerts.
We use this data to verify HKU-only access, show community content, deliver chat and activity notifications, prevent abuse, handle reports, maintain account safety, improve reliability, and operate Peerly across web, iOS, and Android.
If you attach a campus location or image to a post, that content can be shown to other Peerly users. Peerly does not require continuous background location tracking.
Peerly does not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising. Data is kept while your account or content is active. A pending deletion job keeps only the identifiers needed to finish or retry deletion, and removes those identifiers as soon as deletion completes.
You can permanently delete your account from the Profile page in Peerly. This erases your profile identity, original posts, replies, messages, images, locations, meetup details, saves, reactions, notification settings and tokens, uploaded files, and sign-in account. Another person's reply or message is not erased: Peerly may keep only a contentless “Deleted account” placeholder or hidden structural record when it is necessary to keep that person's thread or chat intact. Those placeholders contain none of your original text, image, location, avatar, nickname, or profile link. Under Peerly's current model, ordinary reports and moderation links tied to your erased account or content are also removed; Peerly does not currently operate a separate legal-hold archive.
For privacy, account, or safety questions, use the Support page or the in-app report tools so Peerly can identify the affected account or content.
